REGRESAR

The Foreign Ministry promotes commercial opportunities with Kuwait for the export of sheep livestock.

Tuesday, February 10, 2026

The Kuwaiti company Al Mawashi, a leader in the international livestock trade, carried out an official mission to Argentina with the aim of analyzing opportunities for the export of sheep livestock to the Middle Eastern market. This visit was the result of a partnership process initiated months earlier through diplomatic and technical efforts.

The activity was organized by the Foreign Ministry, with the collaboration of sheep-producing provinces as part of efforts to promote local economies. In this context, the Kuwaiti delegation carried out an intensive work agenda that included visits to livestock farms and meetings with rural associations located in Río Gallegos, as well as in the Lower Valley of the Chubut River, Trelew, and other productive areas of Patagonia.

During these visits, Al Mawashi representatives were able to assess the productive potential of the sheep sector and evaluate herd management conditions, production scale, genetic adaptability, and the sanitary status of the sheep stock, with the aim of analyzing the feasibility of a long-term, sustainable export scheme. In the same vein, contact was established with local slaughterhouses, where the possibility of exporting frozen lamb meat to Kuwait through sample shipments was evaluated in order to analyze its acceptance in the destination market.

Additionally, the delegation visited the ports of Punta Quilla, Puerto Madryn, and Comodoro Rivadavia, where their operational capacity and strategic port location as export departure points were assessed. In particular, logistical infrastructure was inspected, and aspects related to shipping operations and export services were analyzed.

Finally, at the conclusion of the visit, an evaluation meeting was held at the Foreign Ministry with authorities from the Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries (SAGyP) and SENASA. During this meeting, the results of the mission and the current sanitary regulations were reviewed, with the aim of advancing the technical and regulatory requirements necessary to enable the export of sheep livestock to the State of Kuwait.
